The newest film by Oscar-nominated director Bartosz Konopka, who was awarded at the Berlin festival - the creator of the famous "Królik po berlińsku" and the "fear of heights" appreciated by the viewers and critics. "Blood of God" is a reflection of the essence of faith and church that has a contemporary dimension, a form reminiscent of the uncompromising works of Nicolas Winding Refna and the hit series "Game of thrones". The main roles are: Krzysztof Pieczyński ("Belfer", "Grain of truth", "Jack Strong"), Karol Bernacki ("Amok"), Jacek Koman ("Moulin Rouge!", "Son of a Gun", "Grain of truth" "), Wiktoria Gorodeckaja, actress of the National Theater in Warsaw and one of the most original contemporary performers - Frenchman, Olivier de Sagazan.
Early Middle Ages. On the last pagan island, the knight Willibrord (Krzysztof Pieczyński) miraculously escaped death. Ferociously experienced by fate, but hard-fought warrior, he would have died long ago if not for the help of the Nameless (Karol Bernacki) - full of ideals of the boy, hiding the true identity from the world. Despite differences in worldview and approach to religion, men become traveling companions. They continue their journey combined by their common goal - they want to find and baptize the Gentile settlement hidden in the mountains. Although the Christianization of the inhabitants is the only way to save them from the impending doom, the mission of the heroes will try to keep the priest of the Gentiles and their leader, Geowold. Their actions expose alien views to a great test. However, in the last bastion of "old faith" Willibrord and The Unknown can count on an unexpected ally. It is Prahwe - the charismatic daughter of Geowold. Soon, love confronts hatred, dialogue with violence, madness with rules, and many will have to die ... The idea for the film was born of several inspirations. First of all, from my eternal opposition to undisputed dogmas and authorities. From the need to look for a dialogue, alternatives that can reconcile different ideas into the world, rather than exacerbate conflicts. Second - from the fascination with peaceful rebels, such as Christ, Gandhi, Martin Luther King and others. Thirdly, from the wisdom of silence, the search for internal focus, the influence of people on the presence, not empty words, omnipresent issues, ideologies. - Bartosz Konopka, director. The script of the film "Mute" was created as a result of the collaboration of Bartosz Konopka, Przemysław Nowakowski and Anna Wydra. The cinematographer is Jacek Podgórski. Marek Warszewski and Łukasz Trzciński were responsible for the set design, Marta Ostrowicz for costumes and Dariusz Krysiak for the make-up. The film will be assembled by Andrzej Dąbrowski. The producer of the film is Anna Wydra (Otter Films), co-producers: Andrzej Białas and Rafał Bubnicki from the Lower Silesia Film Center (formerly Odra-Film) and Jurgen Willocx from the Belgian company Earlybirds Films. The film's project was developed, among others during prestigious workshops for EAVE producers. He achieved his first successes at the production stage: he received the prize of Krzysztof Kieślowski for the best script developed during the ScripTeast workshop. The main producer, Otter Films, is supported by co-producers: Earlybirds Films from Belgium and Lower Silesia Film Center (formerly Odra-Film). The film is co-financed by the Polish Film Institute and Eurimages. In turn, in Belgium, the production was subsidized by the regional fund Screen Flanders. The "Blood of God" nominated for the Golden Lions was appreciated during the 43. Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia for the pictures of Jacek Podgórski. The painting was also included in the program of the 41st Moscow International Film Festival; the film had its international premiere there.
