In 1924, Eric Liddell took part in the Olympic Games in Paris at a distance of 400 meters. He was unbeatable! He ran in great style and definitely won, setting a new Olympic record. After this race he said: "The secret of my 400-meter success is that the first 200 meters run as fast as I can, the other 200 meters, with God's help, I run even faster."

"The Flying Scotsman", because that's what he was called, after winning in Paris, avoiding fame and went to China as a missionary, where he took up the job of a teacher at an Anglo-Chinese school.

When Japan attacked China in 1937, Liddell was sent to the Japanese internment camp, where he looked after the needy, mainly children.

Eric Liddell, the Olympic hero, a gold winner for Britain who ran in hell, was never released. He died in the camp in February 1945, a few months before the capitulation of Japan, becoming a hero admired to this day.
